Canjingjing Cui, Soprano, D.M.A.

Born in China, lyric coloratura soprano Dr. Canjingjing Cui is gaining recognition for her captivating artistry and technical brilliance. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice from the University of Georgia, a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Conservatory, and both a Master of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Minzu University of China.

Praised for her sincerity and warmth, renowned American lyric coloratura soprano Elizabeth Futral describes Cui as “a great singer who connects deeply with her audience, showcasing beautiful control and a gorgeous instrument.” International opera singer Kirsten Arnold adds, “She is a stunning actress and an artist of impeccable phrasing, creating vivid musical atmospheres with ease.”

A dedicated advocate for musical diversity and community engagement, Dr. Cui frequently curates and performs programs highlighting Asian ethnic and intercultural repertoire. She has appeared on prestigious stages including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and has been an invited artist for the Korean Liberation Day Celebration Concert since 2022. In 2024, she performed the soprano solo in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Maestro Eugene Lee; the previous year, they presented the Korean art song Longing of Golden Mountain.

Dr. Cui’s operatic repertoire includes Pamina, La Fée, Lucia, Zerbinetta, Konstanze, and Violetta, as well as Nara in the Inner Mongolian opera The Legend of Wood-Sculpture. In December 2024, she returned to the Kennedy Center to present a program celebrating Chinese ethnocultural music.

Dr. Cui received Second Prize in the American Virtuoso International Music Competition 2022, Voice, Artist Group. She also won Third Prize in Professional Group of Voice in The 2022 Medici International Music Competition. Cui was a finalist of the Audrey Rooney Vocal Competition 2019, and a Semi-Finalist of the 2019 Orpheus National Music Competition for Vocalists.

Alongside her performing career, Dr. Cui is a devoted voice educator, providing students with solid, healthy, and individualized vocal training. As a rising talent in the music world, she continues to enchant audiences through performances that blend technical finesse with heartfelt artistry.
